CRAFT FOR THE WEEK... MAKE A VOLCANO. No really make one... it doesn't have to be only in 5th grade for a science project. It's really easy and really

PLAY DOUGH RECIPE

3 C. Flour
1 1/2 C. Salt
6 tsp. Cream of Tarter
3 C. Water
3 T. Oil
Food Coloring

LAVA RECIPE

Vinegar

Baking Soda
Food Coloring

Add all ingredients in a large pot. Stir together to get rid of lumps. Cook on medium heat while stirring until it turns into play dough! It's really fun... I let Nathan help mix the ingredients while the burner is off and then I do the rest.
Let cool... During that time build your foundation for the volcano on a large cookie sheet. I used two oven safe bowls. One big one and one small one. Place the larger bowl upside down and the smaller bowl on top of it right side up. Then cover the bowls with foil. Sorry the picture below is from after the chaos was over. Hopefully you get the idea. You can always make up your own foundation.. that's what I did.

When the play dough has cooled need together until smooth. Roll it out and start building your volcano! We put ours in the oven for 1 hour just to see what would happen... luckily it didn't explode. The outside of the play dough got hard, which was what I thought would happen. But it also melted a little, not the plan. It turned out to look really cool because the parts that melting looked like lava. You don't have to bake it if you don't want to. I'm just a nerd and like to see what will happen to things when you bake them. Ok so once your volcano has cooled off let your kids decorate it. Nathan chose dinosaurs. Put baking soda in the top and add vinegar to it. We used red and yellow food coloring in the vinegar to make it look like real lava! And watch it EXPLODE! You can do this part over and over or until you run out of ingredients.

HAVE YOU EVER LOOKED AT YOUR KIDS AND THOUGHT WOW WHERE DID THEY COME FROM OR I WONDER WHAT HE'S THINKING RIGHT NOW...

Meet Nathan Luke Figlewicz...
I think he came into this world speaking in full sentences. He is so funny and smart for being just a little guy. It's funny when my friends who are 20-30 years old like hanging out with him. Okay enough about him and how amazing I think he is, here are some photos of him.

WHEN YOU HUSBAND DOES SOMETHING THAT HE LOVES...

Figlewicz Photo is our family business.

PRETTY PRINCESS

My friend Heather Doleshel of HBD Photography gave Dylan the prettiest dress ever for Christmas from Poor Pitiful Pearl. Dylan's first time modeling...

I WISH I HAD MORE TIME TO PAINT!

I love painting and it would be fun to do it more. My really good friend Kenna (who just had her baby boy... Cormac Cove O'Brien) made the most amazing blanket for my daughter Dylan. I wanted to do a painting of it... because my sister Cari has a blanket from when she was a baby and you can barely tell what it used to look like.
Here it is....
